So a colleague told me about a particular swinging society in an elite gated estate where members of the swinging community tend to have Carol Boyce door handles on their front doors as a “secret” indication of their participation in the swinging lifestyle. Urban legends or do members of the lifestyle have these secretive ways of inviting other members in?

OK I would love to know if this is true please can someone comment

Back in the 70`s no secret handshakes or knocks on doors, and as far as I know, NOT even today!!!!  NOPE...nothing like that...Back in the 70`s it was ONLY knowing someone who introduced you to the swinging/sex/BDSM scene after which you were invited to get-togethers or was allowed to invite your own  partners. Even with *free love* and hippy culture of the 60`s Swinging, BDSM was not really an *open* thing for anyone to participating in. Well, Not in my circle of friends way back then!! No clubs as far as I know, all play happened in private homes.

Anyone else have more info? Or different experiences than my own?

Anyone know the truth about a black ring on the right hand being a way to recognize a swinger?

I know that it is true in America and they even have swingers chains so you can recognize other swinger couples a couple from America we recently played told us would love to know if it's the same in south Africa

Yeah likewise, come on all you lovely peeps, let’s start some form of code for us SH members if there isn’t one already

@fadnad    I know the *secret ring* kind of thing was tried here in Cpt, but it did not really spanned out to become a reality! Although it was not a ring......I myself believe that many and a LOT of false situations might present itself with something like this, many people might unsuspecting wear the same thing.  The same thing was tried in dogging...with a feather on dashboards and shells and such like.... only worked with people who read this advertising thing here on SH, knew what it meant. BUT then once again it could happen to innocent unsuspecting people to be subjected to lewd suggestions and offerings.

It is great if it works/ed for others though.

That same couple gave us this website that sells swingers jewelry for people in the lifestyle so they can spot one anther maybe something like this in south Africa could work

I suspect it was a marketing ploy lol

I googled Swingers Jewelry and there is REALLY nice items, and the symbol they chose is really *cool* if I may say so!

I wonder do swingers in sa wear the jewelry yet to see anyone

We were also told some time back that black rings are an indication the a person is in the lifestyle. The problem with that is that black rings are now in fashion and very one seems to wear it and it is sold in almost all jewelry shops. This may lead to a huge misunderstanding

@ Freshman   The symbol  I saw on the swingers jewelry indicates a *naughty* image if you look at it closely and with a naughty mindset, maybe the black jewelry you choose whether it is a ring, armband, pendant, earrings or brooch or tie pin...the symbol showing on the piece will work!!  My only worry will be someone doing something despicable, if just seeing your jewelry, you do not want, like think, you are there for the *taking* just cause you wear the item. Except if you only wear it to parties and meet and greets and clubs.

the black rings are the in thing know a few couples with black rings we also wear the it works

so assuming the sign is a black ring? What would be an ideal approach to someone wearing one?

that is the million dollar question i dont know

lol and i wondered why that secret handshake was not working

Thoughts by Sam : biggest issue with identifying jewelry or other things is the internet.... Any one can look it up. And most people in the lifestyle participate in secret. Imagine being outed at your kids school due to a ring or bracelet ?

for those that "cant resist" might I suggest simply showing the other person/people your own black ring, and then make any decision about moving forward based on said person / peoples reaction to seeing your black ring

As a Freemason we have secret handshakes and they have worked for hundreds of years so if there was one used by the swinging community I think it would be a good idea.

do you also wear a funny hat

 Only if you ask nicely!

Secret handshakes in public places? I'm curious how that would remain secret . . . . .
