my moan is about people who have accepted "friend requests ". then dont respond to messages , are they just "friend collectors" , the more friends you have the more popular you seem to be ?.

Couldn't agree more. This seems to happen often. A request is sent, I will send a message to say hi, then no response what so ever.
Seems like some people are lacking in manners
Why send a friend request if you not chat or meet the people
so profiles on here with 500 plus friends have chatted or met all on them !!
I don't get the friends system either
Yup the *friends* system differs from person to person. I think most people just asks to be friends to see if you are at least willing to say Hello to them. Others asks for friendship to keep an eye on your profile and to see when you are on line. Me, I never request *friendship* The people I talk to via mails, knows I consider them cyber friends. I always accept all requests but after a time IF they never mail me, I delete them again. Or they loose interest when they realize I am honest when I keep on saying I do not meet anymore ,then silence happens and then they disappear.
If we receive a friend request out of the blue, without any prior messages, we delete the request. We only send/receive friend requests from people we have chatted to. Whats the point of seeing a 'friend' is online, if you have never chatted to them before? My 2c ;) C
What is the advantage of having friends ?
Any "friend" requests that we've accepted and not heard a thing from, we soon delete. Maybe some folk see having a lot of "friends" as a status thing.
