With you I felt alive
And when you looked at me
With worship in your eyes
I felt so beautiful,
Exciting, and alluring,
And longed to go with you
To where I'd never been.
I believed you
When you told me
That you loved me -
Then -
And still do.
And why not?
It was plain to me
That you loved women
And you appreciated them;
But I knew too
You'd loved so many others
And still would
And quickly closed the door.
But why after all the years
Do I still remember you
And ask myself
What might have been
If I had let you in?
This poem was written from a women's perspective, for a friend of mine, who always thinks about the one she let go.
