Passion is the spark
That sets a heart alight
And show it where to go
And how to love.
And yet I hear you say
That passion doesn't last,
And in time will be replaced
By caring, loyalty, and trust,
As if it were a trifling thing
Of little worth,
And not the fuel
That drives a marriage.
If we neglect
To stoke that flame
And let it die
All that will be left
Is the dull grey ash
Of duty.
