Dogging is a slang term referring to the performance or watching of sexual activities between two or more people in public or semi-public spaces, and is closely linked to voyeurism, exhibitionism and cuckholding.
Popular areas for dogging include motor vehicles, either moving or parked at shopping mall and outdoor parking areas, parks, areas with lots of trees, rivers, dams and beaches, quiet roads, change/fitting rooms, cinemas, night clubs, restaurants, public transport and public restrooms, at times when it is unlikely that people who may be offended by such acts will be around.
They act of dogging can involve single individuals or couples who engage in sex in front of a live audience, share, swap or cuckhold partners with others found at the dogging spot or who have simply come to enjoy the show.
Most people who go dogging arrange to meet others through social media posts or on websites specifically dedicated to the activity so as to know exactly where and when couples or curious singles are planning to go dogging.
For most people, the sheer excitement of being watched while engaging in sexual activities enhances the pleasure of the act, while for others knowing that other men and women watch and masturbate is a huge thrill, and for some watching some random stranger/s have sex with their partner in a public space is a thrill of a lifetime.
A scientific survey conducted among 4000 American persons in 2019 revealed that 81% of men and 84% of women who participated in the survey found dogging to be an arousing idea.
One of the common factors that brings much sexual arousal for people is to go for things that are taboo. While growing up, most people are socialised to keep the intimate parts of life private and to keep sex in the bedroom and behind closed doors. Doing the opposite can therefore be extremely sexually liberating and exciting for some people.
1. Never go dogging in any area where there are children, families and old ladies walking their dogs since these are the most likely persons to get offended and call the cops on you.

14. Observe good dogging etiquette at all times. This includes:
- Do not approach a vehicle that is parked with its doors closed and windows rolled up. This is a signal that privacy is required.
- Do approach a vehicle with its windows rolled down slowly. If the occupants proceed to roll the windows up as you approach, leave. They do not want you to watch or come closer.
- A parked vehicle with the driver or passenger door open is a signal that you may approach. If the occupant/s close the door while you are approaching, it means that they are not interested in you.
- If any vehicle allows you to approach fully, be polite, communicate and ask if you can watch, participate or masturbate. NO MEANS NO so do not be pushy and make certain all boundaries are respected at all times.
- If watching, do not touch unless verbally invited to do so.
- A parked vehicle with only the bootlid open is an indication that the occupant/s are looking for M2M action only. Do not be critical or judgmental if this is not your thing, politely move on.
- Flash your headlights or brake lights if you want another vehicle to approach, or if it's dark switch on your cabin light while driving around or parked.
- Agree on the do's and dont's with other doggers before engaging with them and agree that stop is not negotiable.
- Roll down your window or flash your interior light if you want others to watch you.
- Open the driver's door if you want others to join you, or open the passenger's door if you want others to join your partner while you watch, alternatively open both doors if you want others to join the both of you.
14. Drive around for a bit or go to a filling station or mall or stop to by food or refreshments after you leave the dogging spot to make sure you are not being followed.
While the thrill and excitement of being watched or knowing that someone could catch you at any moment makes dogging seem very appealing, always remember that dogging does carry certain inherent risks, for example:
- Section 20 of the Sexual Offences Act 23 of 1957 prohibits committing an "indecent act" in public and you could land up with a criminal record if caught by the police.
- With the advancement of technology, there is a possibility that a member of the public could film your outdoor fun and upload it to social media
Fortunately there are other ways of indulging your taste for sex outside of the bedroom in a safe and hot) manner. These are:
- Visit lifestyle friendly resorts that promote public sex in open spaces.
- Visit swingers clubs where you can indulge your every fantasy within a safe and secure environment.
If you are however still keen on trying dogging,
keep in mind that while you are taking a risk, that dies not mean risking the well-being of others you might encounter. So once again stay away from families, children and old ladies walking their dogs and have a wonderful dogging experience.
